Sturgeons`s Dream. Libretto. ScienceNotes.

Together with Isaac Yuen we wrote the libretto for a modern opera by Frau von Da. They had invited us to come to Aland with them and feel into the networks of life and come up with a narrative, that connects all of them. We decided to start with deep time and the arrival of the first sturgeon and then built up from there, always focusing on this ancient sentient being. The opera was performed in Ahrenshoop and later in Berlin. Parts of the libretto were also shown at the Academy of Arts in Berlin. And now, in ScienceNotes Magazin, with the amazing illustrations by Ari Liloan.

Meermilch. Science Notes.

The German science magazine ScienceNotes printed my story Meermilch/ seamark on the life work of Japanese oyster farmer Shigeo Hatakeyama, who realised that the monocultural "harvesting" of tress in the mountains behind his bay destroyed the oysters and hence started a tree planting network that is still thriving after 30 years. I visited him in Japan and spent an afternoon with him and his wife. The magazine, by the way, is fantastic, each issue has a different layout. I am a bit lucky to be  in this edition with two stories. You can oder it here and I can highly recommend it, the artwork by Sandra Teschow is outstanding.
